The manga’s journey began on March 5, 2018. Gege Akutami crafted a story that quickly became a global phenomenon, pulling readers into a world of sorcery, curses, and intense battles.
On September 29, 2024, the series concluded with its final chapter—chapter 271—bringing six years of incredible storytelling to a close.
Although the ending offered significant answers, it left some mysteries unresolved, staying true to the spirit of unpredictability that defined Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter began with Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki continuing their mission to solve the mysterious case of an awakened curse user from the Culling Game.
The trio, now seasoned sorcerers, devised a strategy to lure out the cursed user by using the affected couple as bait.
While Yuji and Nobara stayed close to the couple for protection, Megumi took a position on a nearby roof deck to watch the area.
Their plan succeeded as Megumi was able to catch the cursed user when he made his move. It turned out that the curse user had a deeply personal motive—he was a stalker obsessed with the female, a hostess. The curse user’s twisted aim was to make her partner unattractive and unworthy of her.
The chapter then shifted to a flashback of Satoru Gojo and Yuji having a conversation before Gojo faced Ryomen Sukuna in the climactic Shinjuku Showdown arc. Despite appearing confident, Gojo openly admitted his doubts about the upcoming battle.
He expressed to Yuji that his greatest hope was for Yuji and the rest of his students to achieve greatness beyond his own.
The manga then transitioned to an unexpected scene featuring Mahito and Sukuna in a conversation made possible through the remnants of Mahito’s technique, which manipulated souls.
Mahito speculated that Sukuna, despite his seemingly unstoppable power, had not been living in accordance with his true desires. He believed that Sukuna’s actions were driven by revenge—specifically, revenge against those who represented and persecuted him as a cursed user.
Sukuna thought about the choices he had faced in his life, regretting that he had been given two paths—one good and one evil—but ultimately couldn’t control the curse within him.
The King of Curses hinted at wanting redemption, admitting that he would choose a different path if he had another chance. Mahito disagreed, accusing Sukuna of becoming weak. Sukuna accepted this criticism, admitting that he had, in the end, lost.
In the closing moments of the manga, Megumi asked Yuji where he had disposed of Sukuna’s final finger. Yuji revealed that he had simply thrown it away.
The final panel showed the cursed finger lying in a mysterious shed within a dark forest, leaving readers with an eerie sense of unfinished business. This scene mirrored how the manga began before Yuji found the cursed finger and kickstarted the entire Sukuna saga.
Before the final chapter’s release, fans speculated that Gojo might come back. However, as confirmed in earlier chapters, Gojo remains dead, and there was no unexpected return in the final chapter.
Another popular theory was that Suguru Geto, or perhaps Kenjaku, had returned to the land of the living. The final chapter did not confirm this, and the identity of the mysterious figure that Fumihiko Takaba was talking to was left unclear.
Lastly, fans hoped Jujutsu Kaisen would continue, perhaps as a spin-off, often referred to as Jujutsu Kaisen 2. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
