You can’t lie in front of the camera.
Twilight Out of Focus episode 4 is the launching pad for Hisashi Otomo and Mao Tsuchiya’s newfound relationship.
After the events in episode 3, where they are finally truthful to themselves and to each other, shooting of the boys love short film finally sets sail smoothly.
Mao owns up to the fact that he only wants Hisashi for himself and was uncomfortable seeing him kiss another person, even if it was just acting.
On the other end of the see-saw, Hisashi too, owns up to the fact that despite being in an on-off relationship with his former teacher, sharing a room with Mao is feels like home: coming home to Mao, who sometimes acts like a mother and father figure, brings him true joy.
Twilight Out of Focus episode 3 recap
It’s the first day of filming for the club’s 30-minute movie, which takes place in their school. Hisashi acts out his first scene, but after many takes, director Giichi Ichikawa still isn’t satisfied.
Noticing that Hisashi seems distracted, Mao calls for a short break. Even though Hisashi wanted to address the events from last night, Mao refuses, and said that he would only discuss their relationship after the film is made.
Giichi, who is surprisingly observant, notices that Mao too is distracted. Mao denies it at first, but later trips on a wire during an important romantic scene in the library between Hisashi’s and Yukitaka Honjou’s character.
He suffers a mild concussion — of course, it’s Hisashi who volunteers to take him to the infirmary. There, they both finally confess their true feelings to each other.
