Assassins Creed Shadows is nearing its official launch. As one of the most highly-anticipated games of the year, it will feature a new story and a highly-requested setting by fans of the game.
The successor to 2023’s Assassins Creed Mirage, the upcoming game is set in 16th-century Japan, towards the end of the Sengoku period, and will feature dual protagonists.
Avid players and fans of the franchise don’t have to wait much longer to know more about the game’s details as we’ve got this guide on the Assassins Creed Shadows release date and story.
When is the Assassins Creed Shadows release date?
The Assassins Creed Shadows release date will be on November 15, 2024. Publisher Ubisoft announced this through an official world premiere trailer that was revealed back on May 16, 2024.
The game will be available across several platforms. From PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Ubisoft+, Amazon Luna, iPad, Macs with Apple Silicon, and Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store.
For those who want to play the game early, there’s also a three-day early access to play the game prior to launch. Players must pre-order the Gold Edition for this.
What is the Assassins Creed Shadows story all about?
With Ubisoft Quebec developing the game, Assassins Creed Shadows focuses on the millennia-old struggle of the Assassin Brotherhood.
Players look through the eyes of two protagonists: Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai inspired by the historical figure of the same name. These two characters have different controls in which a player can switch between them.
As seen in the trailer, players will get to explore feudal Japan whether its from its castle towns to scenic landscapes. Moreover, they’ll be able to witness history as Naoe and Yasuke work together to usher in a world of urbanization.
In line with gameplay, players will have open-world gameplay, and missions will be non-linear. They can also recruit and train a spy network to gather intelligence to better progress the game’s narrative.
These features are just a glimpse of what the game will fully reveal this November.
