Around nine years since its first release in 2015, Until Dawn is now rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 by developer Ballistic Moon and will feature improved graphics and content.
With the announcement of the Until Dawn Remake back in January, fans and players of the game wondered if a remake is truly necessary. However, concerns about this were clarified back in August.
The game is known for its unique “butterfly effect” system wherein players must make choices that may change the storyline as they play. Similarly, Until Dawn received significant praise for its narrative, world-building, and characters.
“As a team of Until Dawn fans and horror lovers, our intention has not been to alter the events of that fateful night. Instead, we have focused on giving the original game a cinematic update, offering the player a more intimate experience by enhancing the visual storytelling,” said in a PlayStation Blog post by Neil McEwan, Creative Director of Ballistic Moon.

When is the Until Dawn Remake release date?
The Until Dawn Remake release date will be on October 4, 2024. This was announced in a recent post on the PlayStation Blog by Chris Lamb, Ballistic Moon’s Technical Director.
In terms of release time, the game will drop at 8 a.m PDT. However, players must check their local timezone as well.
Do take note that the release date covers only PC and PS5 platforms. Moreover, a PlayStation Network account will be required to play the game on PC.
What is the Until Dawn Remake price?
Fans and interested players can pre-order the game for US$59.99 for both PS5 and PC platforms.
The PS5 version of the game can be found on this online listing at the PlayStation Store website. While the PC version of the Until Dawn Remake is posted on Steam.
Following that information, regardless of platform there won’t be any changes to the price. It’s also applicable for physical copies of the game.
What will the Until Dawn Remake feature?
With a few weeks remaining before the Until Dawn Remake release, players were given a glimpse into the updated and additional content coming for the game. This can be found in the Until Dawn – Comparison Trailer by PlayStation.
As there have been no announcements on any differences of the update coming for console platforms, players can expect getting the same content this October.
Overhauled visuals rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 is a major feature that will arrive in the Until Dawn Remake. From updated character models, environments, and props, these will be designed to maximize the player experience of the game.
Besides that, cinematography is also updated. It will include different camera perspectives, blending the game’s original third-person camera with more flexibility options.
When it comes to actual content, the game’s prologue is reworked to develop Until Dawn’s introduction to new players. The pacing is adjusted and some original scenes are reframed for more emotional impact
Then for players who are fond of collecting items and exploring, the game’s original totems will be relocated. Plus, a new collectible, called Hunger Totems will be added.
As for the remaining features, the remake also implements new accessibility and usability settings.
