Team Liquid Takes BLAST Pro Series 5-0

This weekend saw Team Liquid add another impressive win to their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster as they took down FaZe Clan in a 2-0 sweep at the BLAST Pro Series: Los Angeles 2019.

Liquid showed their immense dominance in the scene by finishing the group stages 5-0 with maximum points and moved into the playoffs without dropping a single map against Cloud9 in the semi-finals and then against FaZe in the finals.

In the first map on Nuke, Team Liquid won the game 16-13, with Jake ‘Stewie2K’ Yip cleaning house, dropping a 30 bomb. The second map, Liquid showed their team dominance yet again, but this time Russel ‘ Twistzz’ Van Dulken put down 29 kills before taking the second map on Inferno 16-6.

The tournament MVP Keith ‘NAF’ Markovic, said in an interview with HLTV that he doesn’t care that people are talking about the start of an era with Liquid’s domination.

“I don't think about that type of stuff, I just think about what's ahead of me, the trophies that are ahead of me, that we've just got to keep going and non-stop practice, keep grinding. We're a young team, all of us are hungry, a lot of us haven't even won as much before this year, so we have so much hunger and drive compared to any other team, in my opinion, so that just helps us and that's why we're here right now for sure.”

With another competition under the belt of Team Liquid, they’ll look to the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 which is scheduled to take place at the end of August. There’s $1,000,000 on the line at this major, and the top 8 places in the competition will qualify for Legend Status in the Spring 2020 CS:GO Major.

Liquid has enjoyed a bout of recent success as they won the iBUYPOWER Masters IV back in January, the Intel Extreme Masters XIV in Sydney, the DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019, the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals and ESL One: Cologne 2019. It has to be said that while Astralis, arguably one of the best teams in the world, hasn’t been present at all these competitions, they did attend the ESL Pro League and ESL One in Cologne. That means that it’s not going to be a walk in the park for anyone at the next Major.
