The comeback of the “Chad” beard is upon us.
Ubisoft is preparing to wrap up the ninth year of Rainbow Six Siege with Operation Collision Point, promising a major rework for an existing operator. Blackbeard happens to be the targeted operator for this rework, striking balance to his long-time underpowered abilities.
The reworked Blackbeard will be equipped with a fully-sized retractable shield that will grant him the capability to use his primary weapon. With the introduction of this new update, the much-awaited crossplay between PC and console players will finally be a reality, exciting Rainbow Six Siege fans.
Operation Collision Point is bringing numerous changes to R6 Siege, all of which are worth exploring.
So, when is the release date for R6 Siege Operation Collision Point?
Operation Collision Point will be available to R6 Siege players starting December 3, 2024. The update can be accessed earlier using the R6S Public Test Server on November 18, 2024. Upon pushing of updates, servers will be offline for a specific duration.
As with every other updates, the latest one – Operation Collision Point, will usher in fresh elements to the live-service shooter. Here are some key aspects of the upcoming update:
- Operator Rework (Blackbeard): Blackbeard’s primary gadget kit will be revamped to be in line with his previous utilities, inclusive of a full-sized shield.
- Ability Adjustment (Sens): Sens now has the ability to switch their gadget on and off at will.
- Ability Adjustment (Ying): A slight delay has been introduced in Ying’s gadget activation.
- Ability Adjustment (Thunderbird): Thunderbird’s gadget now has an enhanced healing power to fully recover an unharmed character.
- PC-Console Crossplay: After much anticipation, both PC and Console players can now join in a match together if their lobby has a mix of players from both platforms. This avoids any disparity in skill levels.
- Ranked 2.5: The new ranked update is designed to improve skill-based matchmaking by considering an additional, sixth player for team balancing.
- Shield Nerf: Now, instead of downing an enemy, shields will only push them back when used for melee attacks. The knockback effect increases if the shields are used simultaneously.
- Badge System: To recognize players’ achievements in Rainbow Six Siege, a new badge system is introduced.
The above changes will take effect with the launch of Operation Collision Points in R6 Siege. It’s worth noting that there could possibly be after-release tweaks to ensure game balance. The likelihood of these amendments, however, will be limited on the release date.
