The results of two regional finals are somewhat unexpected. They showcase the uniqueness of online play.
Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1) Pro Kompetition 2023-24 will be completed on June 16 with the Final Kombat event. Players need to prove their might to qualify for this prestigious tournament. Two qualifying spots are for North American (NA) players. NA East and West regional finals had determined one winner per sub-region.
It’s quite interesting to follow these matches as they clearly show what MK1 characters are the strongest in the current meta and what Kameos are the best for them. Also, these specific tournaments have demonstrated the growth of the online competitive scene. Players who dominate many weekly tourneys win such big qualifiers. Can they repeat their success in the offline environment?

MK1 videos have age restrictions, so they can’t be added here. Still, it is possible to watch the stream of the Final Kombat NA qualifiers on YouTube.
MK1 Pro Kompetition 2023-24: NA East
TheMightyUnjust looked unstoppable in the MK1 NA Regional Final. May this be the power of Peacemaker? In most of the fights, the character was accompanied by Khameleon, but TheMightyUnjust also took Kano for some matchups. Xombat fell to the losers bracket after a match against another super strong player in the sub-region, Ninjakilla_212. They played again in the losers final, and the match was much closer with a different outcome.
In the grand final, both players stuck to one character and Kameo pair: Peacemaker/Khameleon for TheMightyUnjust and Johnny Cage/Goro. This brought initial success for Xombat, as he won the first match and reset the brackets with 3-1.
Then, TheMightyUnjust adapted and recovered. He won the grand final reset and the regional final. This means we will be able to see TheMightyUnjust playing at the MK1 Final Kombat 2024 event.

MK1 Pro Kompetition 2023-24: NA West
One player from our list of MK1 players to watch out for could not participate in the Regional Final — SonicFox. The absence of this legend gave a chance to other competitors.
Hourglass_Of_Rain won a very close first match against KingGambler. But then he fell to the losers bracket after going 0-3 in the winners final against WiZEGEMiNi.
Hourglass_Of_Rain and KingGambler played again in the losers final — and again, the match was very close. Hourglass_Of_Rain won this time and proceeded to the grand final.
The might of Hourglass_Of_Rain was unleashed in the grand final. He won the first match with a clear 3-0. The grand final reset was much tougher, and the players reached Game 5. Hourglass_Of_Rain handled this pressure better and won with a Brutality by Mileena.
