After their historic back-to-back League of Legends World Championship wins in 2023 and 2024, fans eagerly ask: “Will T1 stay together?”
The question specifically pertains to the Korean powerhouse’s formidable roster: top laner Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, jungler Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, bot laner Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung, and support Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, often referred to as “ZOFGK.”
This talented lineup has dominated the League of Legends scene since 2022, accumulating an impressive trophy cabinet that includes two World Championships, one LCK Championship, and the Esports World Cup 2024.
With such a successful run, fans are naturally curious about the future of this team. Will T1 stay together and continue their reign of dominance?
Will T1 stay together? A look at the T1 roster for 2025 and the future of ZOFGK
A glance at the official LoL Esports Global Contract Database (GCD) reveals that the contracts of Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi, and Keria with T1 expire on November 18, 2024. Once their contracts end, these players have the freedom to either renew with T1 or explore opportunities with other teams.
While the organization has yet to make any official announcements regarding their T1 roster for 2025, Gumayusi expressed his desire to maintain the current lineup during the Worlds 2024 Finals press conference.
“I just think we’ve made so many great memories on this roster, and I love everyone on the team,” Gumayusi said during the Worlds 2024 Finals press conference, as translated by content creator Ashley Kang. “Personally, I do think that we might be able to maintain this roster, but that can always change depending on the opinions of each individual and also the organization.”
While the future of the rest of the ZOFGK players and the T1 roster for 2025 remains uncertain as of writing, one thing is clear: Faker is staying with T1. His contract with the organization doesn’t expire until November 17, 2025.
The legendary mid laner, who has been a cornerstone of T1 since 2013, has repeatedly expressed his commitment to the team.
Rumors of Faker’s retirement in 2025 have been swiftly dismissed by the player himself.
“Even if I win this year, this is not my last shot. I will keep on working hard and doing my best,” Faker stated during the Worlds 2024 Media Day, which took place before their victory over Bilibili Gaming in the Finals.
Faker began his professional League of Legends career with SK Telecom T1 K (also known as SK Telecom T1 2) in 2013. This team has since rebranded to T1. He has been a core part of the organization for over a decade, making him one of the longest-tenured professional esports players.
Throughout his illustrious career, Faker has amassed a staggering number of accolades. He has won a record-breaking five World Championship titles, solidifying his status as the most successful League of Legends player of all time.
