Clayton “CaptainFlowers” Raines, a well-known shoutcaster for League of Legends, has announced that he will not be part of this year’s Mid-Season Invitational broadcast. This news was shared by the seasoned broadcaster on social media platforms.
Though he was invited to broadcast the event, CaptainFlowers turned down the opportunity. According to him, one of the primary reasons for his absence from the talent desk at this event would be his struggle with his sleep schedule. The Mid-Season Invitational will be hosted in Chengdu, China, which would require hours of air travel for the three-week-long event. Given this travel requirement, the broadcaster has decided not to risk his sleep and health.
He also pointed out another concern was the prevalence of soy in Chinese food, to which he has an allergy. He brought up past incidents of facing difficulty due to his soy allergy when he ate in Korea during Worlds 2023. The language barrier, which would prevent him from clearly communicating about his allergy, was another important factor in his decision to not attend the event.
Apart from this, CaptainFlowers said he will not be engaging in any content related to the Mid-Season Invitational and will be dedicating the whole of May to rest before the LCS Summer Split commences in June. Informing his audience and supporters about his decision, he acknowledged their possible disappointment but assured them that his colleagues would deliver a fantastic performance at the show.
No information has been revealed by Riot about the complete on-air broadcast talent for the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational. The event is set to kick off this Wednesday, May 1.
