One dude shouts "yeah!"
Kobe: "And the crowd goes wiiiilllddd"
That's how bad LCS is as a viewing sport.
Just watching the draft phase, and I'm a bit worried about Shopify's drafting in phase 2. I'm not saying 'draft diff', there's a lot more to the game than draft 99% of the time. However, it does feel like they decided to make their lives really hard.
Firstly, I think it may have been better to try pick up the Xin themselves. Decent pick potentially for his side lanes, and later on his ult makes him a poor target for Depth Charge with long range follow up. That said, we can't know if they would still pick Varus.
The Kalista? Absolutely fine. Gives them a handy way to both save Rell after a failed engage, and an additional mean to get her in the thick of things. However, the real question mark is the R5 Nidalee.
People have been bashing on western Nidalee picks for a while. However, there's something that distinguishes this from 47 of the 49 other most recent Nidalee games: Not a single piece of hard crowd control in either top lane or mid lane. The best thing they have is Rumble Ult slow. Can a Nidalee land a spear without CC? Yes. Is it as consistent? God no. Lastly, but far from least, they have a Varus. He can go lethality. Combined with Hwei, they can safely poke you. If you take even a less common tanky jungler, a la Voli, Zac, even an Amumu, you create a quandary for Varus: do you go lethality and risk not being able to get through the front line, or go attack speed and risk falling behind against a Kalista, Rumble, and Corki.
Maybe the thought was that Nidalee can punish them by throwing spears as they fire off their poke. I don't know. It just feels strange and I really, really want to know the logic behind it.
