Cypher is also facing the same situation.
For those who thought Riot had finished with Viper nerfs, prepare yourselves. The venomous controller has once again been targeted with nerfs, and this time, Cypher is joining her.
Valorant patch 8.08 addresses minor agent bugs, introduces the Mystbloom bundle, and reinstates Split into the active pool.
However, the modifications to Viper and Cypher have stolen the spotlight due to their potential to significantly change the game’s meta.
In the most recent patch, the majority of abilities for both agents have been adjusted, causing concern among those who primarily play these two agents.
Valorant patch 8.08 nerfs Viper, making smokes no longer reusable
The era of Viper using her smoke multiple times per round is over. Following patch 8.08, she can only deploy it once per round, restricting her ability to execute smoke-focused plays.
Players must now select one smoke position that remains effective throughout the round, rather than freely throwing it around. Fortunately, you can still redeploy the smoke during the buy phase.
Viper’s poison curtain, the Toxic Screen, also has a reduced uptime, as does the smoke.
- The maximum uptime of the Toxic Screen (E) and Poison Cloud (Q) abilities has been reduced from 15 to 13.5 to 12 seconds. To activate both, you’ll now need 30% fuel, up from the previous 20%.
- The cooldown on reactivating smokes after they’ve been put down has been reduced from 8 to 5.5 to 5 seconds.
The post-plant meta will also be impacted in the latest Valorant patch 8.08, as Viper can only inflict a limited amount of damage with a single molotov.
However, it will last slightly longer than before, making it still quite dangerous.
- Snake Bite (C) charges have been reduced to 1.
- The price has increased from the previous 200 to 300 creds. The ability will last for 6.5 seconds instead of 5.5 seconds.
Six months ago, Cypher joined the ranks of the best sentinels in Valorant with patch 7.09 buffs. While recent changes haven’t made him obsolete, some players may abandon him due to the recent camera sound change.
Instead of blinking lights, Cypher’s enemies will now be continuously alerted by a sound indicating they are being observed.
- Enemies will now hear looping audio when Cypher is actively watching them from within the Spycam (E).
In addition, his Trapwire will also see some significant nerfs.
- The re-arm time on Trapwire has increased from 1 second to 2 seconds. The device’s slow time has also been reduced from the previous 2 seconds to 1.25 seconds.
All of these changes and more are now live in Valorant patch 8.08.
