The VCT Pacific Stage 1 playoffs are here.
Six teams have qualified for the tournament’s final stage after four weeks of intense competition in the swiss stage (group stage).
The Korean juggernauts dominated the first leg of the tournament. Gen.G Esports, finished at the top of Group Alpha with a respectable 3-3 record. Meanwhile, DRX showcased their resurgence, going undefeated in Group Omega with a 5-0 score.
Both Korean squads bypass the initial knockout stage of the unique hybrid-elimination bracket.
What is the VCT Pacific Stage 1 playoffs?
The playoffs is the second leg of the VCT Pacific Stage 1 tournament, ultimately deciding which teams will advance to the second international LAN of the VCT 2024 season.
The top three teams at the end of Stage 1 will represent the Pacific region in Masters Shanghai.
VCT Pacific Stage 1 playoffs format
The playoffs follow a hybrid-elimination bracket, combining elements of single and double elimination. The first two matches feature a single-elimination knockout round. Teams that win in this round advance to the upper bracket, while those who lose are eliminated.
From the semifinals onwards, the upper bracket switches to a double-elimination format. This means a team is only eliminated after two match losses.
All matches in the playoffs, except for the lower bracket final and grand final, which are best-of-five, will be best-of-three series.
