Huni not listed on Dignitas roster
According to League Global Contract Database, Dignitas did not list Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon nor Jonathan "Grig" Armao on their roster ahead of League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2020 Summer Split, suggesting we are in for some massive roster changes ahead of the next split.
About a month ago Dignitas unveiled they have let Huni "explore other opportunities", which suggested the North American team are prepared to let their top laner go, following a disastrous season, where Dignitas failed to secure a spot in the LCS Spring Split playoffs. Now it seems like Huni might be at the exit doors of the team, seeing how he has not been listed as one of Dignitas players on League Global Contract Database.
Ahead of the 2020 LCS season, there was a lot of hype surrounding Dignitas, namely due to the arrival of Huni, who reportedly signed a $2.3 million two-year contract with the organisation. After Huni's contract got released to the public, many voiced their disagreement and although Huni can be an excellent player, $2.3 million was generally believed to be way too much for a player of his calibre.
Adding to that, there were a lot of concerns with some of the roster changes, namely Dignitas' decision to let Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme go to Cloud9 and the team's decision to keep Tanner “Damonte” Damonte in their academy team. With so a handful of questionable decisions, many people were very sceptical about Dignitas and what can they achieve this season.
In the end, the 2020 LCS Spring Split proved to be an uphill battle for Dignitas, who struggled to make any serious noise. All of the spotlights was on Huni, who was considered to be the player who will carry Dignitas to success, however, the 22-year-old LoL veteran struggled to leave the impact many hoped he will. Not only did Huni struggle to match up against some of the best top laners in the league, but his overly-aggressive playstyle also earned him the most deaths out of all top laners, which helped Dignitas finish the split with the fourth-worst KDA out of all rosters in the league.
Despite Dignitas' struggles throughout the season, Huni and co. found their footing in the latter stages of the split, where they won four out of their last five games, but failed to deliver in the tiebreaker match against Golden Guardians, leaving them without a ticket for the playoffs.
Due to Dignitas' disappointing season, it should not come off as a surprise the team will look to start fresh comes Summer Split and according to recent reports, Dignitas decided to look for other options in both top lane and jungle, seeing how Huni and Grig are not listed in the League Global Contract Database.
At this point, it's worth noting that nothing is confirmed as of yet, but all things point towards Huni's departure from the team. Although he can be one of the best top laners in the world, his coinflip style of play can backfire, which is exactly what happened this split. The lack of consistency was Huni's Achilles's heel throughout most of his career and while his career is by no means over, it remains to be seen which team will be prepared to give him another chance to prove himself.
