New Warzone game modes coming in Season 4
Since its release on March 10, 2020, Call of Duty: Warzone proved to be a massive hit amongst CoD players and others alike, and while it's free-to-play nature might have contributed to its huge popularity, Warzone has without a doubt proved to be one of the biggest game releases of 2020 so far.
While running around the massive and at the same time very well sized map, either trying to remain the last squad alive in the battle royale game mode or scavaging the map and eliminating other teams in order to finish the round as the highest earner in Plunder proved to be more than enough to provide the players with hundreds of hours of fun, Infinity Ward are getting ready to introduce a plethora of new game modes to Warzone in Season 4.
It was already talked before, but it was not until this Monday that Infinity Ward confirmed they're doubling down on their successful title with the 150-player mode, as well as a host of new playlists and limited-time modes, that are "definitely" coming in Season 4.
In an interview, where he spoke about a possible addition of Duos to Warzone, Amos Hodge, the creative director at Raven Software talked about how the players can expect new modes to be added since his team are constantly working on adding "new spice to the game" and providing something new to the player base.
“On the gameplay stuff I can tell you, there will definitely be new modes… We’re constantly working on modes,” said Mr Hodge.
Hodge confirmed that Modern Warfare's battle royale game will also be introduced to new items, field upgrades and new loot comes Season 4, while teasing that Warzone would soon have new items added to the players' loadout on top of all the new playlists that are slated to be added.
Taylor Kurosaki, Infinity Ward's narrative director also said that the new game modes might have something to do with other parts of Verdansk, which the players haven't seen yet, suggesting we might finally see what is hiding behind Warzone's vaults, which have been a huge mystery ever since they were discovered.
Although Kurosaki nor Hodge did not confirm what kind of new game modes we will be getting in Season 4, data-miners did the job for them by leaking some interesting details about what might be coming soon. The leaks were provided by ModernWarzone, who unveiled a list of potential new game modes in a Twitter post.
The leaked game modes include:
- Duos: One-Shot and Stimulus
- Solos, Duos, Trios and Quads: Bottom Line
- Infinite Gulag
- Most Wanted
- Run Like Hell
- Classic Battle Royale
- Mo’ Gulag, Mo’ Problems
- Non-Stop
- PewPew
- Realism
- Inflation Redeployment
Based on the names alone, it's difficult to decipher what all of them mean, although some make it rather obvious what they might be. Infinite Gulag, as the name suggests could be a game mode which is played entirely in the Gulag, meaning it would effectively be a 1v1 version of the Gun Fight, whereas Realism will most likely use the same concept as the Realism game mode in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Run Like Hell and Non-Stop are open to interpretation, although it's fair to assume the former would be a more fast-paced version of the classic battle royale where the gas is approaching at a significantly faster rate, whereas the latter might turn out to be a mode where you get infinite respawns until you get caught by the gas.
Having said that, interpretation of game modes, such as Mo’ Gulag, Mo’ Problems, Inflation Redeployment, PewPew and Most Wanted is completely up to the imagination of the individual.
Apart from the leaked game modes, Warzone might be happy to hear that the long-awaited Duos is already confirmed to be added to the game. The two-player game mode has been a hot topic of discussion amongst the fans for a while and it seems like Infinity listened to the demands and started working on giving the fans what they desire. It remains to be seen, however, when Duos and other game modes will be added, but since all the new game modes were confirmed to be added with Season 4, the release of Duos, PewPew, Most Wanted, Run Like Hell and other new game modes might be just around the corner.
Since each season lasts for about eight weeks, and Season 3 launching on April 8, Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is expected to launch sometime at the start of June, more precisely around Wednesday, June 3.
