Ninjas in Pyjamas part ways with f0rest
Ninjas in Pyjamas announced this Tuesday they are parting ways with their legendary player Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg, who has been with the team for over seven years, since the inception of NiP CS:GO roster back in August 2012.
The announcement of f0rest's departure from NiP surfaced this Tuesday on NiP's official Twitter account, where the Swedish esports organization thanked the 31-year-old rifler/AWPer for his contribution to the team, which includes 64 tournament titles, five Major finals appearances and 1 Major title at ESL One Cologne 2014.
With f0rest's departure, NiP have officially waved goodbye to the final player standing from the original NiP lineup, which was assembled back in 2012, thus efficiently ending an era and starting a new chapter for NiP.
F0rest started his Counter-Strike career in 2003, yet has not started playing competitively until 2005, when he joined Embrace. After five months, f0rest joined Begrip, where he remained for the majority of 2005, before joining Fnatic on January 2006.
Joining Fnatic proved to be a huge stepping stone in his career as a Counter-Strike pro. There he has made a name for himself as one of the best-performing CS players in the world, helping bring Fnatic to prominence as the most dominant team of 2009, when they won almost everything there was to win in the competitive scene.
At the end of 2010, f0rest left Fnatic and joined SK Gaming, where he remained until July 2012, when he opted to leave for Ninjas in Pyjamas where he started competing in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene.
Shortly after joining NiP, f0rest won DreamHack Valencia 2012, ESWC 2012, DreamHack Winter 2012 and Thor Open 2012, just to name a few out of seven LAN titles the team has clinched by the end of the year. NiP managed to keep up the tempo into 2013 as they dominated the CS:GO scene and quickly rose the ranks and were regarded as one of the best CS:GO teams in the world.
NiP's impressive run continued throughout 2013 into 2014 when they won ESL One Cologne 2014 Major, but their Cinderella story has come to an end in November 2014, when their star player Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson declared retirement from the professional CS:GO scene, which started the disintegration of the team that for years to come struggled to relive their glory days.
With NiP's downfall, also came f0rest's struggles to add more titles to his rich trophy cabinet. Nonetheless, f0rest continued playing on the top level and was for that declared as second-best CS:GO player of 2013, seventh-best in 2014, 16th-best in 2015 and seventh-best CS:GO player in 2016, which was also his final appearance on the "Top-20 CS:GO players" list presented by HLTV. Nonetheless, the 31-year-olf Swede is still regarded as one of the best still active players from his generation.
F0rest has not yet declared where he will continue his carer, however, there are speculations he could join Dignitas, to reunite with his three former teammates Adam "friberg" Friberg, Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and Richard "Xizt" Landström, with whom f0rest dominated the CS:GO scene back in 2013, when NiP held an 87-map win streak in LAN matches – which was the most dominant year for NiP in the organizations' history.
As his replacement, NiP already announced the new arrival in 22-year-old AWPer Tim "nawwk" Jonasson, who was previously a member of Team GamerLegion. By joining NiP, nawwk will reunite with his former teammate Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora with whom he has started to gain notoriety towards the end of 2018 while playing under x6tence Galaxy banner.
The said team reached semi-finals at DreamHack Open Winter before nawwk joined GL. With GamerLegion nawwk clinched second-place at Moche XL and reached semis at WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 Finals, just to name a few most notable results.
