Team Atlantis part ways with Ice and Devil
Team Atlantis, a European esports team has announced they are parting ways with Sean "Ice" O'Reilly and Maximilian "DEVIL" Trinh Huu. The latter is already actively searching for a new team to represent in 2020 seson, while Ice decided to play without a team until further notice.
The departure of Ice and DEVIL was announced on Wednesday, February 5, on Team Atlantis' official Twitter page and was shortly after confirmed by the duo themselves, who both made their own Twitter posts, sharing the news with their fans.
"Finally released from Atlantis, thank you for your time Team Atlantis, really grateful for the position I'm in now, only up from here and really excited for the future," said Ice in his Twitter post.
In the same post, Ice also claimed he is not looking for a new organisation yet, but will instead sharpen his skillset and look to prove himself in the upcoming event as a solo player. While Ice decided for a lone wolf approach until further notice, DEVIL was quick to make it publicly know he is a free agent and ready to sign with a new organisation.
Ice started his Fortnite career in September 2018, when he made his first appearance in a professional Fortnite tournament – POG Squad Tournament 2018-09-16. At the said event, Ice competed alongside Aceeh, Alianx and Yitek. The quartet finished the tournament at 58th place, which was a decent result, given there were 249 teams participating in it.
The said event was won by Team Atlantis and their four players – Ebbe "Juganza" Abrahamsson, Max "Magin" Merrien, Vasilis "Villex" Delikouras and Dmitri "Mitr0" Van de Vrie. After seeing Ice play at POG Squad Tournament, Team Atlantis acted quickly and offered him his first professional contract, which he signed in October 2019.
Since then, Ice has appeared in several Fortnite tournaments, yet saw success hard to come by. His career-best results include 59th place finish at WC 2019 EU Qualifiers – Week 2, top-15 finish at Winter Royale NA-West 2019: Day 1 and Winter Royale NA-East 2019: Day 3, and most recently 38th place finish at Platform Solo Cash Cup – PC: Chapter 2 Season 1 – Week 9: Europe and 22nd place finish at Contender Solo Cash Cup: Chapter 2 Season 1 – Week 11: Europe.
Just like Ice, DEVIL started his career as a Fortnite pro back in September 2018 when he appeared at POG Squad Tournament 2018-09-16. There he played alongside tleq, Komi and Anttiz under the name HUPS. The team finished the event at 78th place.
He later participated at Winter Royale EU in December 2018 and at Luxe Cup – Europe in March 2019 and finished 70th and 17th respectively. Shortly after his 17th-place finish at Luxe Cup, DEVIL got signed with Atlantis where he remained since.
In March, DEVIL appeared in European World Cup qualifiers, but unfortunately failed to make the cut for the main event. In Week 4 he finished 15th, in Week 5 175th and in Week 8 at 58th place. DEVIL continued to participate in Fortnite events in the months that followed, with his best placements coming from Fortnite Champion Series: Season X – Week 4: Europe where he finished sixth, Fishy Cup Series, where he pocketed a bronze medal and most recently finished seventh at Winter Royale Middle East 2019: Day 3, which took place in December 2019.
Throughout 2019, DEVIL earned 19700 Power Ranking points, which ranked him at 221st spot in global PC rankings. Meanwhile, Ice earned 11000 PR points throughout 2019, which ranked him as 527th-best PC player in the world.In 2020, Ice accumulated 252 PR points, which ranks him as the 125th-best Fortnite player in the world, while DEVIL has yet to earn any points this year.
The departure of Ice and Devil was announced barely three weeks after the team parted ways with Samuel "Astro" Vidal, who is currently still without a team.
